Rick Warren.
Ever hear of him? I know many of my faithful readers have.
He founded the Mega Church of Saddleback in Orange County California. He founded the church first. Then he wrote “The Purpose Driven Life.” That book was an international (that’s global) best seller.
His teachings along with the book brought a LOT of churches into the modern era. Meaning no longer were they these boring affairs where you stood and sang the gospel songs from the 1700s and were told that you were going to burn in hell every time you went to church because a “loving God” hated everything you did…except when you tithed.
The book itself, I have read a few times. It’s actually a very well written book. Yes, there is a lot of scripture reference. I mean the guy is a pastor. Still, it really is a positive and uplifting book. And it put Rick Warren on the map. So much so that he interviewed Barack Obama at one point.
Why?
Because the shit bag Southern Baptist Convention was so worked up about Obama being the devil and a Muslim Terrorist that Obama’s people decided to have a sit down. A sit down with one of the most popular preachers of the time. You can Youtube the interview if you want. It’s pretty good.
Well, fast forward to today, rather yesterday, and we find that the Southern Baptist Convention rejected the appeal of Rick Warren to stay in the Convention. Earlier they voted him out. Why?
Because Rick ordained women as pastors. Under the writings of Paul under 1 Timothy 2:12.
Mind you, this is the same cult of hypocritical, self-righteous bastards who brought you such greats as T-Rump, Ted Cruz, Anti women’s rights and Christian Nationalism (white supremacy wrapped up in a Christian bow).
They took one verse from the bible and kicked out an entire church of over 20,000 members. One verse that doesn’t even reference what God or Christ says. Rather the verse starts out with “I.” Meaning Paul (the writer) said “I don’t permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she should be silent.”
Paul NEVER met my granny…who is a Christ believing woman… who couldn’t be silent if she wanted to. But I digress
One verse. One verse that expresses a man’s point of view. Not God’s; not Christ’s. Not even a historical perspective of how women have led in the past of that time.
So, allow me to give another single verse. This one comes from the “Red Letter” sections. Red Letter is the parts of the bible that reference what Jesus was to have allegedly said. The actual words of Christ. Matthew 25:40 “I tell you the truth, whatever you have done for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
