A tired GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, was down in Douglas County yesterday for a shin dig my cousin put on to celebrate the adoption of her daughter by cousin’s hubby (step dad). And yes, I was the attorney on that. First adoption…and, despite it all, we DID IT!
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
So, Congress goes on recess.
For 6 weeks.
Leaving a bunch of military people in waiting for their promotions.
Thanks to Tommy Tuberville and his fellow Republi-morons who claim to love the military and love veterans and all that rah-rah crap.
At a certain rank, the approval for the next rank or next job, has to get approved by Congress.
Basically at the level of general or admiral.
It is a check set in place to make sure we avoid putting in place a military commander who would have the power to conduct a coup.
It’s not a bad thing so long as the process is conducted as it should rather than being held up for fake political points. Which is what Mr. “Never Served a Day” Tuberville is doing.
All the promotions are sitting on his desk. He is holding them up because the military will allow a soldier or sailor, who is stationed in a state that does not allow abortions, to travel to a state that does should they need one.
Tuber’s state of Alabama is a non-choice state. He has the belief that the military should be just like Alabama. So, he is holding up those appointments for his little political stunt to allegedly appease his voters.
And “yes” he is a Republican.
Now, will this diminish our national security? Not really. Even though the press and Dems will trumpet that it does, it really doesn’t. Leadership is still in place. It’s just that certain positions aren’t filled. Such as the top general in the Marine Corp. Or the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. However, the leadership is in place.
The other thing is that when it comes to our military set up, losing a general or admiral doesn’t have the same impact on the troops or mission as it does in countries like Russia or Iran.
US military leadership is very decentralized. Makes for a much more chaotic force to deal with for an adversary.
What the hold up does is really impact the families of the ranks in question. They are the ones whose lives sit in limbo as they wait for Congressional approval. They are the ones waiting to pack up and move. They are the ones on stand by with the moving trucks. With the new schools. New jobs. Saying goodbye over and over again. Sitting and waiting while Little Tommy throws his fit to make points with his stupid little fake “christian” buddies in Alabama.
And, so, the game continues. Rest easy though. The US has a GREAT military and our National Security really isn’t in danger.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember a fear of tsunamis is natural if it…COMES IN WAVES! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA…SPLASH!
Peace
