A FOOTBALL IS HERE GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, FOOTBALL SEASON IS BACK ON! GO BEAVES…BABY! GO BEAVES!
Free For All Friday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s FRIDAY! OPEN MAT! PIZZA NIGHT!
Last weekend (Saturday) marked the one year anniversary of Pops passing away.
I wasn’t sure how it would impact me. I can tell you that having a 6-year old running around and keeping the chaos alive…helped to keep me distracted.
Pops and I always talked about football. Well, I mean he would call me and tell me his predictions of things and continue down his list of items related to how Air Force was going to win the Commander’s Trophy that year.
This year, we would have had a TON to talk about. Especially with the Pac-12 going away and what the future of my Beavers will become.
I have several friends that have lost a parent. I am not the only one. The sobering part for my readers is that if you haven’t had that experience, you will. Sometimes I wish it weren’t so. Still, it is a fact.
They will pass and you will go through your stages of grief. However it is that you mourn the loss of a loved one, that is what you will do.
How long will it take? Nobody really knows. It is up to you. I know some who just thought of it as just another day. Some grieve about the loss for what seems FOREVER. Some make the loss who they are…a mourning human wandering the world in a dark shroud like in Lord of the Rings when Elrond describes to Arwen what her life will be like. Really a great scene.
I look at such passings as a painting. Much like the painting of my days in Iraq.
When it first happens, the colors are super vivid. Very clear and, at times, overwhelming to see and think about.
Overtime, those colors fade. The painting become less vivid. It doesn’t pain you so much to look at it. You can gaze on it and see the drawings that were made. You can see the images of days gone by.
Just like the painting for me, I can still see Pops and by the grill talking football. A warm type day with the sun shining, both of us just sitting together enjoying each other’s presence. Believing that both our teams were National Champions despite the odds.
That picture alone brings a bit of a tear to the eye and a smile to my face.
I still miss Pops. I always will.
None the less, Air Force has NO CHANCE at being a National Champion because THE BEAVERS WILL DOMINATE!
GO BEAVES!
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember Norway is a very expensive place to live. Few can…A-FJORD IT! BWAHAHAHHAHAHA…Good One!
Peace
