Ed-vise: Number One Daughter Adventures

A holy crap it’s been a bit GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, been a day or two since my last post. Plenty of early morning things and being out of town and other lame-o excuses to not share a “Brilliant Mind” with the rest of the world!

What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAYS!

I got permission to Ed-vise about this one…so I am.

It comes from a situation that occurred with Number One Daughter.

The other night she was doing patient transport. She was taking a patient from the hospital back to their residence somewhere in the Portland metropolitan area.

It was at night and such. She was the only one transporting this patient. No partner.

After dropping off the patient and going back to the vehicle, one of Portland’s, Presumably Homeless Types, came out of the woodworks. He approached Number One Daughter and proceeded to compliment her on her looks. Understandable.

Then, things went south from there.

Picture the worst date you have ever been on. But then the guy wants to be all handsy. Then, rather than take no for an answer, he decides to take off his clothes and show off.

Well, that’s what happened to Number One Daughter.

FORTUNATELY, she is fine. When she came to me the next morning, she was a bit shook.

So, What Would You Do if you were confronted late at night while alone?

I can only give some Ed-vise on such things. Especially for downtown Portland as the scene is not getting better.

First, keep your head on a swivel. Always looking around for ANYTHING out of the ordinary. Especially people. Why People? Because they suck (kidding…but not kidding).

Second, take a second or two to lay out your plan of movement. From the vehicle to the location and back. Or from the location to the vehicle. Look for hide spots. Look for obstacles to your destination. Last thing you want is for someone to jump out of a hide spot and startle you causing you to trip over something.

Third, and this one might be controversial, DON’T stop. If it’s late at night and someone calls for help, get to your safety first. Then tend to someone else’s. Otherwise, you could end up setting yourself up for a bigger problem.

Should you have your phone ready? Yes. However, you want to keep in mind the level of focus you need to get into your car. If you are in a conversation, you can easily lose focus and become distracted.

Getting to your car is the most important thing. Get there.

And that is what Number One Daughter did. The person came from nowhere and surprised her. It does happen even with the best of plans. She escaped the person, got into the car and drove away. Though, I think she would have a pretty good legal defense if she happened to put the vehicle in the wrong gear and “accidentally” run the person over…OOOPS!

I’m just saying

That’s if for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember what the atheist beaver said when he went to hell…I’LL BE DAMNED!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA…GO BEAVES!

Peace
