A raining GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, got the rain in town. Good thing I mowed the lawn last week cause this weekend…gonna be a bit…MOIST!
What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAYS!
In case you missed it, yesterday was World Mental Health Day!
Meaning it was an acknowledgement of those of us with mental health issues and that shame around having a mental health issue is not acceptable.
Totally agree on that.
Being a history buff, I always wonder “how” we got here. Meaning “how” did mental health come to the forefront where so many people suffer from different issues? Put another way, has mental health suffering ALWAYS been an issue and just went un-noticed?
Gonna say “Yes” on that.
So long as there have been people there has been mental health issues. Either created through genetic disorders or from people simply not being nice.
Take a look at the history of the human race which is primarily built around wars. War after war after war after war. Just that alone causes massive amounts of mental health issues on both the victor (it takes a lot to kill a person) and the losers.
Then you have the times when Mother Nature decides it doesn’t want humans around and “shakes.” Shaking in the sense of Mt. Vesuvius wiping out Pompeii. Or any of the famines or plagues that killed off large parts of the populations.
Mental health issues have always been around. I think people just did their best to ignore them or explain them away with the ideas of being possessed by demons. That’s a church thing.
One way or the other, mental health gets neglected all the time until it becomes a problem. The thing is we usually don’t know it’s a problem until someone outside of our head (not made up) tells us it’s a problem.
There is no shame in having a mental health issue. I’ll bet you dollars to donuts we all have them to some degree. But, we all have to listen when someone is telling us we have a mental health issue and need help.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember skeletons hate Halloween candy because they…DON’T HAVE THE STOMACH FOR IT! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAA…BOO!
Peace
