A Thanksgiving eve GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, Turkey Day tomorrow! Gonna be heading to the store for some brine fixings and such. Smokin’ my turkey this go round. Hopefully, no fireballs!
What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAYS!
Took Newbie to the pool last night for some open swim. No, I did not swim. Dropped her off with Number One Daughter.
Pulled into the parking lot and noticed all the trucks that were parked rear end first. In other words, they backed into the parking spot.
Personally, in a busy parking lot, it should be ILLEGAL to stop and back into a parking spot. Reason being most people aren’t good at it and the entire traffic line has to wait and watch that dumb ass try and park that stupid ass big truck into a little bitty parking spot. Then pull forward cause they’re too close or not far enough back or whatever. Another one of those “Old Man Shaking His Fist” moments.
When you ask people why they back in, you get just a few responses.
- I’m an emergency responder and need to move out quickly. Acceptable;
- I’m in construction and that’s what we do. Mildly acceptable;
- I just like to “Rodeo Park.” Not acceptable;
- I’m not an emergency responder but I never know when I will have an emergency. DEFINITELY NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Many believe that parking in such a manner will make it quicker for them to leave should they need to move out quickly.
I disagree.
Technically speaking, going in reverse, over the short run, is faster than going forward. If you know how to do a “Boot Legger’s” turn, you are even faster. I can and I know I can get my “Panty Dropper (mini-van)” down the road faster than most going forward can.
Some might think that they park that way to be able to get out if they are blocked in.
I disagree.
See, if a car chooses to block you in, you are blocked in. If you choose to ram the car with your vehicle, you will have a problem.
First, you will have to deal with the fact that an impact on your bumper of so much force will cause the air bags to deploy. BANG! Followed by a great big, non-see through balloon, in your face. If it did not break your nose, you still can’t see around it.
Second, all the smart stuff in your car…is in the front. All that computer crap, the engine, the steering, all of it is under the hood in the front. By ramming another vehicle, you run the very real risk of damaging those systems which will shut down your car.
Last, if you hit a car hard enough, or something sharp enough, you will have punctured your radiator. Now, all the things that keep your car running “cool” are all over the ground. Your attempt to get away will result in your car or truck dying on the road because it over-heated.
If, on the other hand, you have to back out, you will have an easier time with less issues.
Nothing of real importance (besides the body you are hiding in your trunk) will get damaged. Airbags most likely will not deploy. All the computer stuff will stay in tact. If your vehicle happens to drive up on top of another vehicle, front wheel drive will easily pull your vehicle off.
Plus, you have the added benefit of not being that JACKASS who is backing up traffic while they try and fit their stupid truck into a small parking place.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember a dyslexic zombie only eats…BRIANS!!! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA…That’s a good one!
Peace
