A back from Colorado GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, went to Denver to receive my 4th degree black belt this weekend. Denver Airport…you need some work. I mean some SERIOUS work!
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
A good time spent with my Ju Jitsu family and Spousal Support Unit in Denver this past weekend.
Great jits, visiting, catching up and meeting with new jits people who simply love the sport and love the ohana…the family aspect.
Denver, on the other hand, yeah…like I said: Needs work.
Landed on Friday afternoon. Tram from terminal was packed. Like cattle into these cars. One person was overheard saying he had been recovering from Bird Flu. Nice. Here we are in a packed train and this ass let’s it known that he might have Bird Flu.
What I learned was that the people who came in Thursday night had to walk the VERY long distance from their terminal to baggage because the tram had broke down. THAT is a LONG walk!
We picked up our bags from baggage claim. It was a mess. Bags everywhere because they just pile them on with the prior flights. Why? Because the distance the passengers take is LONGER than the distance from the plane to the baggage claims. So, the baggage handlers just keep throwing the bags on the machine without regard to the pile that gets created on the other end.
I’d say that “not giving a damn” was a common theme at the Denver Airport. And the hotel.
Six story hotel. Hundreds of rooms. Two elevators. Only ONE was working. Barely.
Rooms: I’ve stayed in better hotels with hourly rates.
Service: See prior statement.
Why?
Turns out the hotel had been sold to the city of Denver prior to the event. Denver was going to convert it to a homeless shelter. The city didn’t feel a need to provide maintenance so the elevator had been out almost a year. Crown Plaza didn’t feel obligated to do anything other than the minimum so they did just that: The Minimum.
Back at the airport for the return trip.
Check in at United.
Did the little kiosk thing. Looked around for where to hand off the luggage to check in on the flight. Attendant said “put it on the pile over there.” It was a literal pile. I didn’t think our bags would make it home.
Ed-vise for a person in need: go to the Denver Airport. Go to the United check in. There will be a pile of suitcases there. Walk up and take one. Pretty sure the people at that airport won’t stop you. Reason I say that is because the entire way through was a whole bunch of people who are assigned to safety and security were really NOT interested in safety and security. It radiated from them.
Denver looks like a lonely city. Very brown. Very spread out all over the place. To add insult to injury: WINDY. And I HATE WIND!
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person your dog thinks you are. Check in on each other. And remember scuba divers fall out of the boat backwards because if they didn’t, they would fall…IN THE BOAT! BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHA…Get it?!?
Peace
