A bit breezy GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, it’s a bit breezy and nippy this AM. But, carrying a box of Diet Coke to Newbie’s school keeps the blood pumping and the body warm!
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
Was musing this weekend about something a bit controversial and it has to do with our freedom of speech versus a certain state that is making big headlines with the action they are taking against Gaza.
At Columbia University and Yale and Berkley and other universities across the land, massive protests are popping up. Primarily in support of the Palestinian people. Several times those same protests have been calling for violence against the Jewish student body of those universities. Those calls have made the Jewish students feel unsafe to attend classes and have resulted in massive numbers of students getting arrested by the university deans and police.
Now, if you recall, the university deans were hauled before Congress to answer about why protests were being allowed on campuses that condemned the actions of the Israeli Government. It was kind of embarrassing for the deans and a couple of them lost their jobs. In my opinion, it was unnecessary and was a fake attempt by Congress to make it look like they were doing something other than T-Rumps bidding.
Remember, I’m a history guy. So, I read about things that happened in the past. Why? Because it helps me kick ass in trivia AND predict things in the future.
I say that because those who don’t learn history are condemned to repeat it…or something like that.
In the past, when there has been big protests on college campuses with massive numbers of students getting arrested, there has ALWAYS been a big change that happens. And it’s usually not good for the status quo.
The Butter Rebellion of 1766 came about because Harvard students were being served rancid butter. Protests, arrests and a change to status quo: fresh butter. True story.
The Civil Rights Era had protests across the nation with lots of arrests and lots of violence of police against the protestors. Change of status quo: Civil Rights
The Vietnam War Protests also had lots of campus protests, with lots of arrests and lots of violence by police against protestors. Change of status quo: we withdrew from Vietnam
Now, we are seeing the universities protesting the actions of the Israeli Government against the Palestinians. Lots of protests, lots of arrests, soon there will be lots of violence by police (encouraged by Faux (Fox) News). Change of status quo…prediction: the US blind support of Israel.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person your dog thinks you are. Check in on each other and remember if you get kidnapped by a mime, the things they will do to you will be…UNSPEAKABLE! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…shhh
Peace
