Ed-vise: Stolen Valor

A been a bit GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, you are right. It has been a bit since my last post. Simply busy and undisciplined is all. So, time to get back at it cause FOOTBALL SEASON IS ALMOST HERE!

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s FRIDAY! OPEN MAT; PIZZA NIGHT!

Tom Walz.

I like this guy.

He’s the Dem pick for VP with Kamala Harris.

Served a long time with the Minnesota National Guard and retired as a senior level enlisted soldier. Either a Master Sergeant or a Sergeant Major or a Command Sergeant Major. For pay and retirement purposes that is an E-8 or E-9. That’s for the paperwork side of things.

For drinking purposes (that’s for when you’re at a bar bragging about your military service) he told people he retired as a Command Sergeant Major (CSM). And he ran for office and is alleged to have said the same thing.

Now, JD “The Tool” Vance is accusing him of “Stolen Valor.”

That is a serious accusation to level at Walz considering JD’s lover (aside from his couch) happens to be a 5 TIME DRAFT DODGING COWARD! That’s T-Rump for those keeping score.

Stolen Valor is about people who claim to be veterans or claim to have been (or are) in the military but are NOT. Nor have they ever been. Historically, it has always been around. Recently on social media platforms there have been video confrontations of people wearing the uniforms and the medals but never serving. Then they get confronted by someone who starts screaming “STOLEN VALOR” in a public place in an effort to embarrass and humiliate the person.

At first, I thought this was kinda funny just because of how flagrant the imposters were being. Then, once, I saw where the videoers confronted a special needs person who was wearing his late father’s military uniform because it made the autistic individual feel safe. I think that was the last video I saw of the Stolen Valor confrontations as public sentiment toward that one blew it up.

So, for Walz. There is no Stolen Valor. He served and served honorably. He did his thing and got out. All of it legal. All of it documented.

While serving, he did deploy with his unit to Italy to support training of troops going into the forward theatres of war (Afghanistan and Iraq).

Did he embellish on his service record? ABSOLUTELY.

Have other military types also embellished? YOU BET! I’ve had beers with guys who were serving or have served who claimed to have fought in every military engagement ‘Murica ever did! And even served in things ‘Murica never acknowledged. Shoot man…I’ve even bought a cocktail for guys who claimed to be “Door Gunners on the Space Shuttle.”

Special Forces, Rangers, Forced Recon, Pararescue, SEALS, high ranking enlisted, 6 star generals, Buck Rogers, Luke Skywalker, storming the beaches of Normandy, rowing a canoe filled with Apache Warriors up the Mekong River in Vietnam…Veterans say the darndest things in an effort to get free drinks and a warm body to wake up to the next morning. Or get elected.

But that’s not Stolen Valor.

Bad marketing (if it doesn’t work).

Not Stolen Valor.

Thanks for the service. Both of you.

That’s it for today. Be the person your dog thinks you are. Check in on each other and remember two octopus that look the same are…I-TENTACLE! BWAAHAHAHHHAHAHHAHA…

Peace
