OK, Election Day a Coming!
The first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. That is the designated Election Day. Federal law actually.
Came up with that day in 1845. Why? Because of the farmers of course!
Couldn’t do the weekend cause everyone went to church on Sunday. Same with Saturday for the 7th Day Adventists.
Couldn’t do Wednesday cause that was traditional Farmer’s Market Day.
It was, for most folks, a two day trip to the polls; day there and day back.
Could have done Friday but Thursday was spent cleaning up after Farmer’s Market Day.
So, Tuesday was the day. Picked November cause that was after the harvest of late summer and before the hard winter set in.
You want to talk about VOTER FRAUD!?!? Holy Cats! There was all kinds of voter fraud.
You can imagine all the technology we have in place today to assure the integrity of the election process. Secured ballot boxes, name, address, signature verification, driver’s licenses. All systems designed to make sure no fraud happens.
Well, back in the day, NONE of that was available. People literally voted at one poll in one state or county. Then, they would load up their horse and ride to the next state or county and vote again. It is believed that the election of Andrew Jackson was big time filled with voter fraud.
Trust me when I say we are NOT the Holiest of Holy when it comes to election fraud and denialism.
Will there be fraud on the level that T-Rump and his Puppets spout off about? Nope. Not even close. The only reason they spout off like that is because they make a LOT of money getting their minions to be good and pissed about stuff.
The fraud thing is a possibility. The scale of it is so small that it has no consequence on any elections in these here United States.
Just know this: no matter who wins the election, the sun will still rise the next day. The republic will still stand no matter the victor. These here United States of ‘Murica will still be just that.
And the Dallas Cowboys along with the Oregon State Beavers will STILL have shitty seasons.
So, fill out your ballots and remember: there is a blank spot for write in candidates for President. A vote for me…IS A VOTE FOR ME!
