A Bowl Games Coming GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, the big bowl games are right around the corner! Of the 8 teams playing I’m gunning for Boise State. Why? Cause they will be joining the Pac 12 in 2026! GO BRONCOS!
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
Jimmy Carter passed away this weekend at the spry young age of 100! The political cartoons that I have seen on Instagram and Threads bring a warmth to the heart and a tear to the eye.
I won’t post them here. Primarily because I don’t know how yet. Still you should take a look at them.
They show Jimmy and his wife, Rosalyn, meeting up together in heaven. Just take a look at them.
Never met Jimmy. I was too young to really know his politics. Pops wasn’t a fan of his. Probably because Jimmy was a Democrat. In reality, Jimmy wasn’t liked by either party once he was elected. The Dems wanted Ted Kennedy. The people wanted Jimmy. And Reagan and the Republicans set Jimmy up for bigtime failure.
But that’s another story.
There is a town in Georgia called Americus. It is also the headquarters for the International Habitat for Humanity.
Just down the street from the headquarters was a small coffee shop. It still is a coffee shop and bakery.
One day while I was in Georgia doing some military stuff, I ventured to Americus. No reason. Just wanted to check out Georgia. I drove into Americus and saw the International Habitat for Humanity building. Big red brick building with the sign on the side. I drove a little further past it and found the coffee shop. So, I stopped in.
I ordered a cup of coffee and a coffee cake and sat down with my laptop to work on a military homework assignment. I sat there, clicking away on the assignment. The shop was empty as it was a Saturday morning. Me and the barista.
As I was spacing off on a mental vacation and admiring the pictures on the wall, the bell on the door jingled to let both of us know that someone was coming in.
A gentleman with dark glasses and the earpiece, polo shirt (dark blue) and khakis came through the door and looked around. He took a bit of a longer look at me as he held the door open for an older, well dressed woman and another person dressed similar to him.
She greeted the barista who greeted her with a “Good morning Rosalyn.”
I looked at her as she got her coffee to go. The guy in the polo didn’t take his eyes off me. She took her coffee, took a sip and made eye contact with me. She smiled, nodded and out the door she went. Just like that.
A couple moments later, it clicked…THAT was Rosalyn Carter!
The barista could tell that the pieces in my brain were coming together as he watched the expressions on my face change from searching, to analyzing, to surprise. I looked at him with that surprised, questioning look on my face and he nodded in that manner that people do when they confirm your suspicions.
I had been that close to Rosalyn Carter which means I was THAT much closer to shaking hands with Jimmy Carter…a former President.
I will say this: Carter was a man whose actions did more than his words.
Grew up a peanut farmer in Plains Georgia to become the 39th President of these here United States. He only knew hard work. He might not have been a great President but nobody can deny he was a good man.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today and for 2024! Be the person your dog thinks you are. Check in on each other and remember if you decide to stop being a people pleaser…EVERYONE WILL LIKE IT! BWAHAHAHHAHA…hmmm
Peace
