Today’s bit o trivia: Ponzi Scheme. A genuine “rob Peter to pay Paul” set up. See back in the 1920s there was a guy named Charles Ponzi. He set up a plan where people would buy into his dream of making big money using other people’s money. So, he managed to convince some big money people that whatever he was investing in would pay large dividends. And it did. How? By getting smaller investors to believe the same thing and using their money to pay the bigger and earlier investors along with himself. Well, to keep the scheme going, you have to get more people in on the bottom tiers. And more and more people need paid. Until, it cannot happen anymore. Then, the masses at the bottom end up with negative balance in the bank, the ones at the top got rich and guys like Bernie Madoff go to federal prison where they end up dying today.
Anyway…
What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Man I do love today!
Every police agency is on trial these past few days. Rightfully so I believe. Especially if the agencies has not evaluated and updated their training and procedures on a consistent and repeated basis. As we saw the other day, a traffic stop resulted in the death of a person who was found guilty without a trial.
So, here is the scenario for police officers. Suspect pulled over for traffic violation. Records check indicates the person has a warrant for their arrest. Thus, you will need to take them into custody. How will you make sure you do not end up depriving this person of a fair trial and killing them?
Take charge of the scene. Perhaps have other officers, when they show up, box the car in. At the recent shooting their were 3 officers total meaning 3 cars. One in back, one in front, one along side.
Perhaps have the suspect come to the back of his car so he does not have access to the cab of the car. Much like you see in many other TV shows. Perhaps have the suspect sit on the curb.
Perhaps run through your minds the similar scenario. Then ask yourself how you would deal with this situation. Video footage and detailed analysis of the event should be at the top of EVERY police agency in ‘Merica to prevent this from happening again. I’m just saying
