Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
Had a GREAT weekend with Jitsu Family in So. Cal!
Met some knew people; met some old friends; learned a thing or two…and AM S-O-R-E!
Had some GREAT conversations that solved the world problems. Unfortunately was unable to solve them all. Maybe next time.
And still the world outside kept at it.
All the strife and chaos going on around the world and what makes the top news? The actions of Will Smith vs. Chris Rock at the Oscars.
People fighting for the very lives and livelihood and top bill is an action by a man whose wife was slighted by a Court Jester.
What I did learn is that she (Jaida) suffers from alopeca. A Court Jester insulted a person’s “handicap.”
Back in the times of kings and queens, a Court Jester could easily lose their comedic head if they crossed whatever line might be there.
Now, I am not for censorship of speech. Especially with comedians. Comedians should take it upon themselves to check their materials. Getting a crowd to laugh at the expense of person’s private or semi-private, personal issue…not acceptable in my book. EXPECT what happens after such statements.
In the end, Chris Rock “took it like a man.” I think he realized he had crossed a line. I think his continuing the way he did made him look even MORE of a professional that is proud of his trade.
Kind of weird I know. However, great job on both of their parts. Will for taking care of business; Chris for being a professional.
