Another cold GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, cold…again. I’m done with cold. How about some spring please!
Technically Talking Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…Technically!
Why don’t they make a technology that makes it easier for people to…USE TECHNOLOGY?
Especially our parents.
My sister bought my parents a “smart” TV. Mom has a hell of a time getting it to the right channel and show for dad. Then, heaven forbid, she should push the wrong button. BAM! Phone calls from mom to walk her through fixing it until she gets frustrated enough to turn it off and walk away.
Father in law has “smart” TVs all over his house. He uses the Roku system. Ok. When I watch him fire that up, with the TV, it literally seems like he has to scroll through and press a million different apps and letters and numbers all with a remote in hand.
On my TV, I have a million different apps (probably use three). When I want to watch a show I end up with several choices of which program I want to watch the show on.
Technically Talking the technology has become confusing due to the number of choices we, the consumer, supposedly want. Thought, I don’t recall being asked.
See, why can’t the system be set up where I say “I want to watch this show.” Then, the “smart” TV, PLAYS THE GODDAMN SHOW! It doesn’t ask me on which app would I like to watch it or if I want commercials or if I want it in surround sound or if I want to…whatever else. It JUST PLAYS THE SHOW. That’s it.
I don’t have to log in or scroll through or whatever. It JUST PLAYS THE SHOW.
If it has to turn on Roku, fine. If it has to go to Hulu, fine. If it has to sort through my library of saved programs, fine. I don’t care about ANY of that. Nor do people like my parents. The only channel my dad really cares about is Fox News (we are NOT talking politics today). When mom says “Fox News” a supposed “smart” TV should have figured out by now that it is Fox LA, on the Fox Network (channel 12 I think).
Nobody…NOBODY…should get frustrated with technology if technology is supposed to make life easier!
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember after an earthquake, the Earth says…”THAT’S MY FAULT”! BWAHAHAHHAHHA…rumble
Peace
