Ed-vise: Gas-lit

A Halo GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, watched the first episode of Halo last night. LOVED IT! Not at the level of Starship Troopers but Halo has a bunch of it!

Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to think!

OK, you know how some states want to mutate their school curriculums. Banning books and banning subjects that the Tali-Christians don’t like and find “offensive.”

Well, Florida under Imam Ron Desantis, is working to become the next Kabul. Him and his Band of Merry Men are probably putting together ways to institute public stonings and beheadings.

But, I have to give a bit of “well played” to the Florida Imam.

See, recently, his education group banned some 40 math textbooks. Word got out that it was because of Critical Race Theory contained within along with offensive type wording based on recent measures passed aimed at avoiding topics about LGBTQ and slavery.

At least that is what made the headlines.

That’s not exactly why those books got banned.

Think about it for a minute. How could those topics get into a book of math problems?

Well, they didn’t.

See, back in the 90s and early 2000s, this thing called “Common Core” came to the land. It’s an effort to improve the math and English levels of ‘Murican kiddies. It was a bit weird as it was a deviation from the norms. In particular for math. Several videos and comments surfaced about ways that kids were having to solve simple math problems.

Well, those problems that parents were having in helping their kids with math homework made it to Fox News and Limbaugh-diots and it went crazy from there.

Florida opted NOT to accept the nation wide Common Core curriculum. Instead, they went with Florida BEST standards which are based on Common Core curriculum back in 2020.

Textbooks of math were sent in bulk to Florida for approval, just like all states receive. Florida went through the books and found that 40 of these books contained the Nation Wide Common Core stuff and not the Florida BEST stuff. They were thus rejected.

But, somehow, the headline was mutated to say Florida is rejecting these books based on CRT. Imam Desantis was able to hold his ground and look good for those against CRT. Those in support of CRT got to bash the Imam because they were able to point at and condemn the book banning.

And thus, a nod to “well played.” Way to keep everyone gas-lit!

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember a dinosaur that uses cheap toilet paper is called a…MEGA-SOREASS! HAHAHAHAHAHA…ROAR

Peace
