A Ground Hog Day GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, it’s Ground Hog Day! My grandad’s birthday as well. He passed away a while back but still, it’s good to remember our loved ones!
Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to THINK!
Last night ABC hosted a sing a long to School House Rock. It has been 50 years since that little snipit cartoon graced the screens of so many of us Gen -Xrs. And I remembered most of the songs and ALL of the animations.
There was one that I couldn’t recall the song. It was the one about nouns. I remembered the animation though. Perhaps it was how it was sung. Some of the songs were a bit off for me but the lyrics…MAN…I was KILLING IT! In my opinion.
Now, Think About It. That show taught us SOOOOOO much!
Civics, science, math, english, history…all the subjects in elementary school were hit.
A small, two minute, video with animation held our attention perfectly. Then, put the information to song and BAM! The perfect blend of education and distribution of knowledge.
See, studies (real studies not that crap put out by The Heritage Institute), show that music helps to provide recall ability of memories and helps to set up new memories.
Those little jingles on commercials that keep reverberating in our brains, some you cannot forget.
School House Rock played on that very science. Put the definition of adjective to a song and they will ALWAYS remember that “it was a HAIRY bear; it was a SCARY bear” words to really describe things. That’s an adjective.
Count by threes? No problem because I remember the song “3 is a magic number.”
How a bill becomes a law? You guessed it. That’s where I learned about the legislative process with “I’m just a bill.” And someday I will be a LAAAAWWWW, how I hope and pray that I will but today I am still just a bill.
And let’s not ever forget that the Whores of the Confederacy and Jezebels (Moms) for Liberty would absolutely HATE the one that goes “until the 19th amendment struck down that restrictive rule! 19…19…19!” How is a Florida or Oklahoma school going to teach (or not teach) how women earned the right to vote?
Good tunes to learn by. Even the animation, though low budget, still plays in the Echo Chambers of my mind.
Too cool. Even for Rufus Xavier Sarsaparilla. Thank you ABC and Disney for bringing back some good memories.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember a cow without lips makes an…OOOOOOOOOOO sound! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA…that’s a good one….OOOOOOOOOO!
Peace
