Ed-vise: Drug Profits

A Chiefs Win GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, they pulled it out in the second half. This Super Bowl was one of the better ones I have seen. Commercials weren’t that great. But, gamewise…pretty good!

Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!

I been musing about drug companies as of late.

Along the lines of why they charge so much for drugs.

The biggest purchaser of drugs happens to be Medicare. Medicare buys the drugs for those on the government plan. Simple enough right?

Well, see, back in the early 2000s, there was a guy from Louisiana named Billy Tauzin. He negotiated the language into Medicare Plan D that made it so those that run Medicare cannot negotiate prices with drug companies. In return, the drug companies gave him a nice $2 million salary for him to lobby on their behalf.

Fast forward to today (rather last week) when Rick Scott told us the same garbage I used to believe: that the huge profits made by big pharma were used to create life saving drugs.

Interesting.

Now days, I have a hard time with that.

See, I look at a life saving drug as something a person would take and be cured. That if the person stopped taking the drug, the sickness would not return. Pretty simple definition.

Take cancer for instance. I mean Good Ol’ ‘Murica has been at “war” with it since the 70s. Yet, it still is with us.

Plenty of drugs to take for it. And I do mean A LOT. Not necessarily a “cure” as it is, say a stalling mechanism.

Take insulin for example. Doesn’t cure diabetes. Simply helps the body regulate blood sugar. No cure.

COVID vaccine. Once the body gets used to the Bill Gates Micro-chip, COVID has less of an impact on the body. No cure. On a side note: if Gates did put a micro-chip in it, can he program the chip so we are better at Microsoft Office Suite of products? Just asking.

I noticed a commonality: you have to keep taking the drugs to live.

That doesn’t seem like a cure. Might seem life saving from a distance.

Polio vaccine…THAT was a cure. One shot and done. And, no patent on the vaccine. Interesting don’t ya think?

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger would do CPR on. Check in on each other and remember a security guard at the Samsung store would be a…GUARDIAN OF THE GALAXY! HAHAHHAHAHAHA…good one!

Peace
