Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to THINK!
So they want to ban Tik Tok.
Congress has nothing better to do with their time than to hold hearings on banning Tik Tok.
They (Republicans) want to ban it because they believe Tik Tok will provide vital information and personal data to the Chinese government.
Technically, that is correct. If the Chinese government tells a Chinese company (or ANY company doing business in China) to turn over it’s information, the company MUST comply. Prison is a possibility for the owners or they can end up kicked out if they are non-Chinese.
Fine. Whatever.
First, if I were the CEO of Tik Tok (Shou Zi Chew is his name) I would have shown up to the hearings with a great big notebook of ALL the dirty little websites the sitting members of Congress have gone to. Then, as each one questioned me, I would have those websites posted so the whole world could see where those representatives spend their time. I’m pretty certain their browser history will not reflect searches for “balanced budget” or “healthcare for all” or even “Jesus.”
But I digress
Here’s the thing that keeps getting overlooked…lean in…ready?
WE DO IT ALL THE TIME!
It is in the US CODE. It’s actually in our rules and laws. We monitor foreign internet and phone traffic ALL THE TIME! Why? BECAUSE WE ARE ‘MURICA BY GAWD! And ain’t NOBODY in the world gonna tell us otherwise!
Also, by the power of subpoena, they can pull yours to.
When it comes to the internet, there is no privacy. That is unless you use a VPN thing. But, even that, a subpoena cracks that open as well.
Banning Tik Tok for security reasons is simply dumb. They might as well ban home computers and lap tops along with smart phones.
In reading up on these hearings, I kinda see the “Why” behind this Republican charade of “National Security.” The conservative morons on the Republican side do a TERRIBLE job on social media. And people on Tik Tok are kicking their asses and posting video after video after video of “Republi-tards” being called out for what they actually said! They keep getting exposes for their rants and tirades; their blow ups at school board meetings and the stupid arguments they make about why sensible gun legislation is an abomination to every Red Blooded White Anglo Saxon Heterosexual Male in ‘Murica!
So, rather than changing the message to something other than hate and fear, they decide to ban the tool being used to expose them.
And THAT’S what all this “hullabaloo” is about! Yeah…I typed hullabaloo and spell check didn’t say anything! HA
I’m just saying
