Ed-vise Episode 19

A Blustery HOWDY-DO to you ALL!!!

Today’s bit o trivia: Licorice. Yup, the candy. This stuff has been around for a long time. A bunch of it was found in King Tut’s tomb in Egypt. Not because of bad tourists but actually in the tomb itself. The Chinese have been using it over 5000 years. Claims it gives them strength and endurance. It’s actually a root. Super sweet and still, to this day, used as a medicine for coughs, ulcers in the gut, menopause, eczema, and (best part) overcoming sugar addiction. For one person (at least) it ended up killing him. Oh well, so much for being a miracle cure!

Anyway…

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today

Man, o-man, o-man so much chaos and anarchy going on today. Have you ever noticed that you find yourself getting more angry almost everyday? Which is why I’m gonna write about my addiction: Ju Jitsu!!!

Wait! WHAT?!?! Yup, for my new readers, I am an avid practitioner of this art. Why? Because I’m stupid like that.

See, I’ve been training with the AJJF for several years. Then, when I was about 43 or so, I fell in love with the Brazilian ground game. AJJF does much more judo type work along with self defense while Brazilian takes care of the ground game and competitions.

Put them both together and I get movement. Which, is absolutely vital in life. The less you move, well, the less your body feels you need to move and starts to die off, painfully.

Can you keep rolling after 50? I am. But can you start over 50? Hmmm. Good question. First, if you are under 50, get on the mat. Get in the gym. Not doing something for your fitness, to harden the body is, in my opinion, a waste of life. If you are over 50. I say, yes you can start. You just have to get with the right coach AND understand you probably are not going to become the next MMA champion. Just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if you are out of shape, you cannot protect your family… more to come on the topic.

Peace
