Monday Monday by the Birds GOOD MORNING to you all out there!!! Get on that Christmas shopping and get er done!!!
Todays bit o trivia: Cheese. Cheese, glorious Cheese!!! I don’t know about you all but I love cheese. Good cheese, not so much the processed stuff. Although I’m not completely off the processed stuff because Kraft Singles make really good grilled cheese sandwiches. They don’t really know who, how, or when the first cheese was made up. Details point out that it was probably an accident as travelers and herders would try to store milk for extended periods of time. See, according to legend, someone used an animal stomach to store the milk. Among other things put in were salt. Well, the residual stomach acids curdled the milk and created whey as well. Thus, the first signs of cheese coming around. Stay tuned cause I’m gonna have more on this little delicacy over the week.
Anyway…
Monday Musings Ed-vise today
Have been pondering the idea of getting a coach. What? Yup a coach.
I had a conversation with a friend who was looking for a graduation gift. I recommended a coach. Some type of coach. Preferably for something the graduate enjoys doing.
See, there is a concept called “Deliberate Practice.” This discipline makes it so you can master what it is you choose to master. The practice forces you to exert yourself, either physically or mentally, to become better. For me, I practice Ju Jitsu. At least I did before the pandemic. With a coach, the growth is so much easier although the pain of that growth is hard.
In life, off the mat, we rarely engage a coach. Rarely do we ask someone, or even know someone, that can push us in our respective careers to make us even better. To push us and make us uncomfortable so we can become better. I am a consultant. I don’t know of ANY consulting coaches. Or, at least where to look.
There’s a lot of talk about mentors. Mentors are different than coaches because a mentor removes road blocks in your career. The mentor shows you the ropes and people to know so you can move up in the corporation. A coach works you out so you become a person worthy of being mentored. I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if it were Three Wise Women versus Three Wise Men, Joseph would have been read the riot act for not making reservations ahead of time.
Peace.
