Ed-vise Episode 83

A cool GOOD MORNING! today for you all. Yeah, I missed yesterday due to meetings but… that happens!

Today’s bit o trivia: James F. Blake. Mr. Blake was a bus driver. He drove bus back in the 40s and 50s (19 type series not upcoming 20s). In 1943 he a black female stepped on the bus, paid her fare, and sat down. He directed her to get up and exit, then to re-enter in the rear door. That passenger got off the bus and vowed never to ride a Mr. Blake bus again. Well, as James Bond says “never say ‘never’ again.” Twelve years later, 1955, Ms. Parks boarded Mr. Blake’s bus, again. Paid her fare and sat where she was allowed: the black and white section (not the black only or white only). Yes, Mr. Blake was the bus driver of the bus that Rosa Parks was arrested on and the Civil Rights movement became even bigger! When asked about it years later, Mr. Blake asserted the Nuremberg Defense of “I was doing my job and following orders.”

Anyway…

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today!

Peace
