Ed-vise Episode 99

A Prince type GOOD MORNING!! to you all!! If you listened to Prince you know what I mean.

Today’s bit o trivia: Goa. When I was in Afghanistan, I worked with a lot of people from India. Great people. Bit skinny but super friendly and super passionate about Cricket. They all had distinctive sounding Indian names. Safe to say these surnames were packed with vowels, the letter K and the letter L. Then, one day, I came across a gentleman from India with a distinctive surname from Spain (I thought). He laughed at me due to his name being so off the norm. Well, turns out he came from India’s 25th State of Goa. Goa was a Portuguese settlement for almost 5 centuries. Started in 1505 by Mr. Albuquerque from Portugal. Became a huge settlement rivaling Lisbon (built by slaves). Would probably still be there if it weren’t for the Jesuits who ran it into the ground. Wasn’t until 1961 that India forcibly took it back. And you thought just the Brits messed with India

Anyway…

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today

Who taught you what you know?

Do you have a coach? Mentor? Do you know the difference?

When I was growing up, I played lots of sports. When I first started whatever sport, I was not good at it. Why? Well, I didn’t know how to play.

But, I had a coach. Many coaches. They taught me how to play. The rules, the scoring, the game. They made me better at what I was playing.

Then, as I got older, my “games” changed. I still have coaches. They are for my study of Ju Jitsu. What I don’t have is a coach for my profession(s). Thus, I am relegated to learning the crafts of my professions by diligent and focused research.

I’ve gone online to see if coaches are available. I just haven’t found one as of yet.

If you want to attain higher levels of performance; feel like your career isn’t going anywhere? Swallow your pride and find a coach to push and stretch you a bit. I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourself. Check in on each other and remember leprechaun’s NEVER pay back money. They’re always short… BAHAHAHAHHAHA!!! (Snort)!
