A morning run after a hard workout GOOD MORNING!!! to you all!!! Had to trot along a little slower this morning because I was SORE!!! All worth it though
Today’s bit o trivia: Heritage Months. This goes along the lines of all the butt hurt folks going on about Black History Month. Well, guess what? In October 1987, then President Regan (the Republican that the Trumplicans have forgotten) declared German American Heritage Month! There’s also and Irish American Month (March) which parallels Women’s History Month; an Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept-Oct); an American Indian Heritage Month (November). Just about every heritage in these here U-Nited States has a month or week or day. So the next time some Mouth from the South wants to pipe off with “Why the Black History Month” you have the facts.
Anyway…
Free For All Friday Ed-vise today
Yessireee BOB it is FRIDAY!!! That means anything goes today.
The other day I was listening to one of the many podcasts that I love. Darkhorse with Brett Weinstein and his spousal support unit Heather Heying. I love listening to these two. Brett’s brother Eric also has a podcast which does some super deep diving on various topics.
The topic of discussion was about an article/ Op Ed piece in the New York Times that, in a nutshell, minimized a counter thought to vaccines as “non-scientific.” Why was it minimized? Because the article didn’t go along with “Main Stream” science. From there, the podcast spoke about silencing of counter voices on social media platforms.
For me, I have to wonder where the line is to be drawn when it comes to marginalizing counter opinions. Yes, there are those who are out there. Also those who intentionally sew seeds of confusion for purposes that we can consider dangerous.
However, we should not silence those who put forward a contrary opinion. Contrary opinions make the world a great place to be! Debate and argument in the public square keep wars at bay. It is up to us, as the listeners, to decide which is the argument that holds truth. For instance, Copernicus posted on twitter an argument that the earth was NOT the center of the universe. That pissed off the church. Martin Luther King Jr. posted on Instagram his dream. He was assassinated for it.
You see, counter arguments and scientific theories should not be silenced. They should actually be looked into and challenged. It’s how we get better. I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if someone accuses you of procrastinating you tell them “JUST YOU WAIT!”
Peace
