Ed-vise Episode 126

A I need to eat more protein GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Man, hard workout from last night once again has me sleeping in til 530am. Dang! Most of the day shot.

Today’s bit o trivia: Jackie Mitchell. Back in the Golden Era of baseball with the likes of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, came a woman from the Memphis Lookouts (a AA-league team). She was picked to pitch against the Yankees “Murderers’ Row” in an exhibition game in 1931. The headlines were such that in today’s day and age, the reporter would have been fired for saying “The curves won’t be all on the ball” and “she has a swell change of pace and swings a mean lipstick.” None the less, at the young age of 17, Jackie struck out both Babe Ruth AND Lou Gehrig back to back. After walking the next batter she was pulled by the coach and the lookouts went on to get crushed 14-4.

Anyway…

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today. Here comes the weekend just in time to work on your becoming a better you!

If you’re good at an area I am interested in, I will learn from you.

What does that mean?

As you all know, I love to learn. I love coaching AND being coached. I have a jiu jitsu coach who is significantly younger than I am. He has no fear about coaching me. Why? Because he knows his stuff AND I want to learn from him.

Often, in the workplace, people of different generations work with each other. The older ones might seem a bit unapproachable to the younger ones. There is a post on I saw on Instagram about when an HR person has to talk with an older employee and the HR person trembles at the thought. I’d post it if I knew how. But, that’s the thing: if you know how to do something, don’t be afraid to teach it. If you (my generation) don’t know how to do something, don’t be afraid to ask. I do. I try to learn something new everyday. And, I am humble enough to learn from anyone that has the knowledge. Even from my kids, my nieces, and my cousins. I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember never ask a teddy bear if they are hungry because they are always stuffed. And that’s free Ed-vise!

Peace
