Ok, I took the few minutes from my life and read one state’s absolutely stupid attempt to control the “Market Place of Ideas” in trying to ban Critical Race Theory. I only did one state (Idaho) because I don’t think I have enough minutes in my life to lose reading these examples of dysfunctional legislation.
You can read it yourself and I encourage you to. It is only two pages. Idaho House Bill 377.
It begs a couple of questions.
First, the bill bans the teaching that one race, sex, ethnicity, etc., is superior to the other. How will they teach human biology? I mean, women are far more superior in having children than men, so. Or how about medical statistics which show that Gingers like myself, are FAR MORE SUPERIOR IN DEVELOPING SKIN CANCER due to sun exposure?
Second, the bill says you cannot teach that people today are inherently responsible for the actions of our ancestors. I paraphrase here. Understand something: ALL LEGISLATION IS PASSED TO BENEFIT TEH FUTURE! Even this stupid bill. That means our ancestors passed legislation in hopes of benefiting themselves at the time AND benefiting future generations. It’s a bit philosophical but not much of a leap.
Look, history MUST be taught. ALL OF IT! Whether we like it or not DOES NOT MATTER. It must be taught or we will be forced to make the same mistakes and suffer similar if not worse consequences. And when legislatures attempt to control the “Market Place of Ideas,” well, that legislature MUST GO or they will take away more and more of your freedoms. Before you know it, the book burnings will begin and Ava Braun will return.
