The other day, I was stirred from my deep thoughts by the ring of the doorbell and the spasms of my dogs barking their stupid heads off.
I answered the door and there were four kids from the local high-school (could have been junior high) with a petition for me to sign. Clipboard in hand and a few signatures on it I thought “Man! Good to see our youth getting politically involved.”
The ask: “would you sign a petition to remove all BLM and LGBTQ flags from school grounds?”
I noticed on the shirts these Cherubs wore was the unmistakable Blue Lives Matter flag. In case you don’t know what that it is, it is an INTENTIONAL DEFACING OF THE AMERICAN FLAG WITH A BLUE STRIPE PUT WHERE A BLUE STRIPE SHOULD NOT BE. Hate me if you want but it’s true.
My response: No. No argument. No debate. Nothing. Why? Because I realized something. I realized these kids had no interest, really, in going door to door to get signatures for anything let along a flag removal thing.
But, kids with no interest other than to play sports or Call of Duty, don’t just show up wanting signatures for their cause. Someone put them up to it.
Two things here. One, make sure you read the thing they are trying to get you to sign. Sometimes it is couched in terms like “Stop Bubonic Plague.” The small print of the ballot will say “…by removing BLM flags.” Pay attention.
Second, find out who might be behind sending a bunch of kids around to gather signatures. You might not like the people behind the curtain directing the youth of ‘Merica where they might not want to go.
