A chilly GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Forward Ambulation was a bit of a nip in the air. The Spousal Support Unit will be happy about that.
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Because it’s MONDAY!!!
Did a bit of reading this past weekend. Did so because first, I like to read. Second, I’m a bit of a nerd. THERE! HAPPY? I SAID IT!
Actually, I did a bit of research on a statement I made to a friend of mine who checked in on me about my sentiment on Afghanistan. God bless her for just checking in on me!
But that’s not what I am musing about. “That” being Afghanistan.
No. I am musing about the ability to read in long sittings. For extended periods of time.
Do you feel like you become easily distracted and impatient when you are reading? Like you just want the Top 10 things or click bait. You feel a bit frustrated about the length of what you have started to read and then, you begin skimming.
If you read up about great discoveries and great minds, you will notice something: they had an ability to think about a concept for an extended period of time.
That ability is natural in all of us. Every one of us has the ability to ponder an idea or topic. I believe it is an inherent ability. We are given it at birth. We train ourselves perfectly to minimize that ability. We train ourselves through “Click Bait” and through only wanting those Top 10 whatevers. Instead of deeply engaging in a subject, we choose to just get the bare minimum. Then, we end up looking foolish when we cast blame on political parties for the fall of a nation.
If you ever watched Army of Darkness the hero goes to read the Necronomicon. He is given specific words to say. But, because of his conditioning he wasn’t paying attention and said the words…”well, maybe not every syllable…but they got it.” They did. And the army rose up.
Become a better person by reading in depth. Then, you won’t make grand statements about how they can drop you in Afghanistan and clear it out by tomorrow, because you missed the important details.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember you make a waterbed by using “SPRING WATER!”” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Peace
