A road work GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, started the road work conditioning. Purple belt for jiu jitsu on the horizon and I don’t have the gas right now to do the gauntlet!
Talking Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause I like talkin’.
This morning, during my road work, I managed to see that Mars was sitting low on the horizon. You can tell it’s Mars, cause it’s red…and not twinkling. Stars twinkle, hence the song Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Planets appear as steady lights in the dark sky.
My mind began to wander back to days long ago. When people observed. Deeply observed the world and heavens around and above them. These observations helped to explain life. It helped them survive. Provided direction, stories, even gods and foundations of religion.
Deep Observation, I think, is when you take the time to, consciously LOOK at something. Anything. Whatever it might be. Not gazing. Actually looking at something for movement. Whatever that movement might be.
You might start observing something out of curiosity. You have no idea what it will do. So, you watch it. In Europe, “People Watching” is a common practice. People sitting at a cafe and watching other people as they walk by. Observing.
I think Deep Observation is a skill we are losing. We lose it due to our filling our time with scrolling. Never really observing the why and how of things. Never really understanding how our world works. Rather, gazing and short videos and taking dopamine’s hit.
Next time you go into a public toilet, do this: Read the graffiti on the wall instead of scrolling your phone. You might be amazed at what you observe. Especially if the employees have been doing the writing.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember a security guard outside a Samsung store would be considered a Guardian of the Galaxy! HAHAHAHAHAHA
Peace
