An I have to change my battery in my van GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, battery died in the “Panty Dropper.” All those bells and whistles and not one could tell me beforehand that my battery was dying! AHHHHH!
What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I love Wednesday!
You probably didn’t hear about this but a gang in Haiti kidnapped 17 Christian Aid Workers recently.
Side note: Haiti sits in the Caribbean. Isn’t it amazing that a country can be so close to the richest country in the world and be descending into total chaos? But that’s a different Ed-vise.
So, these 17 were doing work at an orphanage. They were done, with the days, whatever, got on a bus and were heading back to their…whatever. Probably all smiles and hugs, singing hymnals about how awesome God is and how loving and caring God is. Probably even about how PROTECTIVE God is (OOOOOOH).
On this little bus ride down a dirt road (because there are lots of dirt roads in Haiti), a road block is set up with armed gunmen in regular street clothes. Songs stop. Eyes open up. And the “Holy Spirit” opened the door and walked away!
Put yourself in those missionary shoes.
First, unless you plan to get hurt or shot, you are about to be taken. AND…THE US GOVERNMENT DOES NOT NEGOTIATE. They will not pay a ransom no matter what. The State Department is down there delaying the gang members while the FBI locates them and plans to execute them all…hopefully without killing the missionaries.
Look folks, these missionaries, just like the NGOs “trapped” in Afghanistan, KNEW what they were getting into. KNEW IT! I don’t have much sympathy for people that KNOWINGLY walk into these messes.
But, for those of you who plan to do so here is a bit of Ed-vise for you: DO NOT TAKE THE SAME ROAD GOING OUT AS YOU DID GOING IN. Second, take two or three vehicles. That way all of you are not on the same bus. Third, and most importantly, don’t go to places like this.
Watch the 2008 Rambo movie. Rambo makes a point to the Christian Missionaries that unless they are bringing guns, they are not going to change anything. Maybe that’s true. If you feel “called” to go into a country in chaos, have a plan to get out. And DON’T put your hope in the US Government. After all, the US Government didn’t “call” you to go.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember claustrophobic astronauts…need space! HAHHAHAHAHHAHAA
Peace
