OK, Thanksgiving over. Now, we can listen to Christmas songs and watch said movies as well. Lights can go up; decorations out, etc., etc., etc.
Add to that the Omicron variant of COVID is on the trail! Wonderful. Good thing we have plenty of letters to go on these variants.
South Africa is getting a really bad rap on this variant as well. The media races to point the finger at that country right out of the gate.
If you have been following me, you will recall that early on I pointed out that Africa, in general, already has had the infrastructure of dealing with a pandemic for some time. Because that continent has been fighting pandemics back for a long time. Like really nasty pandemics. Africa just has a hard time getting everyone vaccinated due to different reasons related to ability to distribute vaccines and ability to obtain said item. ‘Merica first…right?
Truth be told (as it should be) South Africa actually gave the world a head start on this variant. The scientists and doctors; certified Smarty Pants and others DISCOVERED the variant. They did not create it.
So while the media does what it can to get the “clicks” for people to read the shitty reporting and shitty writing about how South Africa caused this variant, keep in mind that South Africa did us all a favor: they FOUND it. Good job South Africa!
