A So Cal GOOD EVENING!!! to you all! Yup, in So. Cal. dealing with my pops as he enters this stage of his life journey. The next few Ed-vise episodes will reflect my sentiment on this, my dad’s final act in his play called Life.
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! Hope you got after it!
Drove down from Oregon to So. Cal on Friday. Got into town Saturday and managed to go to the rehab facility dad was resting at. Mom, sis, bro-in law, and, of course, dad, were all there.
I have been in several such facilities. This one, I would consider nice. Why? Because it didn’t smell like piss and death. Actually had carpeting, medical peoples, and other items that would make one feel welcome…slightly.
Mom and the others, they would disagree with me. When I saw dad’s dinner, I would have to agree. A burrito with a slab of baloney, some lettuce and mayo. Really? At $5000 for a few weeks and that was dinner? Fawk!
Got dad home…and the fun began. Which begins my musings to say there has got to be a better way.
See, dad has a care provider and hospice. Mom has to coordinate this. Now, God bless my bro-in-law and sister for being able to help on this. The number of people and phone calls would EASILY drive a person crazy! I mean EASY! Question after question; call after call; delivery after delivery. It’s absolute chaos.
Imagine if it was possible to have a single contact point. A solo person that you could call and that person would take care of everything. All the way to putting that person in the ground. All you need to do is hold your loved one’s hand. They take care of everything. The calls; the deliveries; the doctors; the lawyers (gotta love the lawyers). Bill collectors, the trusts or will. All of it. You sit back and sit with your loved one. Nothing else for you to worry about.
Bro-in-law and I are exploring it. Until then, have a plan of how you will get across the finish line.
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember elves use SANTA-TIZER to clean the sleigh! GET IT?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHA
Peace
