Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! Carpe Diem!
Well, 2021 was taken away by a few great people…in my opinion.
Betty White, John Madden, Dan Reeves. All three took with them 2021.
For me, all three never really came on the scene until they were much older. Betty White, I don’t recall even knowing of her until the sitcom Golden Girls surfaced. After that was cancelled, I didn’t really see her in the headlines much. That is until Ryan Reynolds paired with her in The Proposal. After that, it seemed like she was everywhere.
John Madden always had Madden Football. His run as Raider’s head coach was back in the late 1960s to late 70s. It was AFTER he retired from coaching that he started commentating with his heavy use of drawing on the screen to show viewers different plays and such. Then, Nintendo approached him with their football game concept and asked if they could put his name on it. Then the money rolled in.
I would say Madden is the one I’ll miss the most. His turkey with 6 or 8 legs that he would award turkey legs to the best players on Thanksgiving day, his use of lines all over the screen to narrate the game. Never got to see his RV that he would drive all over the US. From what I know of him, he genuinely liked people. Same goes for what they way about White and Reeves. They liked people.
So, now, 2022 starts up. Break out your planners (I have mine) and set up your goals for the year. Whatever your goals just remember to be good to people. You don’t have to be a dick to be known. Many times it’s the genuinely good people that make the biggest impact in our lives.
