A getting lined up to head south GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, going to So. Cal and Arizona this weekend. Why does it ALWAYS seem like there are a million things to do before a trip? Just pack and go! At least that is what you would think.
What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAY!
It happened again. This time in New York. A young woman stabbed to death by a stranger.
The current facts are that a stranger followed the woman into her apartment building through the front door. More than likely, she probably noticed he was following her. Might have even gave that courtesy shove on the door to open a bit for him.
She went to her apartment. He followed her SIX FLOORS UP and attacked her.
According to reports, neighbors HEARD HER CRIES FOR HELP AND TO CALL 911! That hurts right there. Put a pin in that…I’ll circle back.
If this person followed her up 6 flights, then, I would bet she ignored the little hairs on the back of her neck.
What Would You Do if a stranger was in your presence, in your apartment, and following you?
When do you think you would recognize you might have a problem?
In most, if not all apartments, the elevator lobby and the stairway lead into an open area. Wide enough for you to maneuver around someone. If you are being followed up the stairs, it is 1000% OK to exit on whatever floor. Then, if the person following exits the same floor, allow them to pass by you. Then, return to your journey. That moment will allow you to prepare for a fight.
Same goes for an elevator.
If you think you are being followed, no matter the time of day, use your smart phone for it’s purpose and MAKE A CALL! Call someone, ANYONE. Put the phone to your ear and make it a BIG SHOW! Even go so far as to say “is this 911?” Having someone on the phone will help to calm you and give someone else the ability to help you if they are close by.
Now, if this attacker was already in the building, then I strongly condemn those in the building along with those who heard her cries for help and did nothing! A stranger in the building should ALWAYS be confronted. It doesn’t need to end up a “Karen” video type confrontation. Just a friendly “Hi” and an introduction will put a person looking to attack in an awkward position that most likely will get them to leave. “Can I help you” also works WONDERS for a person with bad intentions. It let’s them know they are being watched!
The building owner and neighbors all were saying what a sweet girl Christina Lee was. Hopefully, now the people left behind will take some initiative and as What Would You Do if there is a stranger in the building. Doubt it though. I’m just a bit skeptical.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember that today we celebrate the life of the person who invented auto-correct. May they Restaurant in Peace! Oh…BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Peace
