So, the Pentagon thinks that Russia will stage something to justify invading Ukraine. Hmmm. Let me think about that…Not stage. Manufacture. Basically set something up that maybe, causes Ukraine to shoot first or something similar. Interesting.
You know what else is interesting? We did that too.
See, back in 1898, the US had a problem with a little island called Cuba. It wasn’t so much that Cuba was doing anything to provoke us. They just weren’t real open to US businesses barging their way into the island economy. Which is VERY common for US politics. If you can’t have a justified war, go make one and it’s usually because of US business.
So, the powers that be at the time decided they will FORCE Cuba to WILLINGLY accept US businesses. But, negotiation wouldn’t work so, we needed to kill those that opposed. However, an outright invasion of Cuba (like Kennedy attempted in 1961) would NOT be welcome by the global powers at the time. In 1898, we weren’t quite the military powerhouse we are today. So, we needed a reason.
We parked an old battleship in Havana Harbor called the USS Maine. It blew up. Nobody knew why but the US government along with William Randolf Hurst led the nation to believe the Spanish did it (who we were at war with). So, that galvanized the nation to send in the troops (Teddy Roosevelt included) and save the nation…for us!
Did the same thing in Iraq with Yellow Cake Uranium tales. Same in Vietnam with the Gulf of Tonkin incident. If Russia does ”Manufacture” something, they are only taking a page out of OUR playbook. And NOBODY plagiarizes from ’Murica!
