A morning workout GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, managed to get to the gym this morning for an early workout. Working on the conditioning for upcoming jits tournament.
Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!
Coach K will not win the whole thing this year.
A well deserved win by North Carolina put Duke out of the March Madness. And so, Coach K will walk off into the sunset of NCAA basketball as a legend. Well done Coach K.
That aside, AMAZON HAS A UNION! AMAZON HAS A UNION! AMAZON HAS A UNION! HA-HAHA-HA-HAA-HAAA!
Yup, an Amazon facility in New York voted to unionize. Who was the “Fuse Lighter?” Chris Smalls.
Chris was a supervisor at the New York facility who was fired by the company because he expressed concerns about the working conditions of his employees with respect to COVID protocols.
Not to lay out a bunch of details here but there is one piece that really pissed me off. It has to do with a leaked memo that circulated among Amazon execs that stated Mr. Smalls was “not smart or articulate” and that his being the face of unionizing efforts would “undermine the cause.”
Were I on the board of directors I would find the author of such an arrogant and short sighted memo and fire them AFTER they worked a few months on the floor.
During my weekend Musings, I reflected on the fact that the arrogance of some educated people amazes me. What’s more, the fact that such arrogance has been in place since FOREVER!
For whatever reason, some educated folks seem to have this idea that not being “well read” or “articulate” makes you lazy or means you’re stupid. It amazes me that such educated folk forget the history of the world and the number of uneducated, “not smart” and “inarticulate” people have CHANGED THE WORLD!
You don’t need an education to start a movement. You just need to move.
You don’t need to be articulate to organize a workforce. You just need passion.
As far as “smart” is concerned, who sets the standard for that? You do. To hell with anyone else on that.
So, as the arrogance of Amazon infests itself in the minds of Amazon executives, the unions will grow. When managers and supervisors believe they are better than their workforce, there is a real problem in the workplace.
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember 6:30 is the best time on a clock…HANDS DOWN!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
