Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to THINK!
Do you know what group first advocated for banning abortions? The American Medical Association (AMA)! Way back in the 1850s their members got together and pushed to make abortion a crime.
They managed to get laws passed across all the states with the help of the Catholic Church. They played the “Game of Politics.”
In the 1960s, the Women’s Movement managed to couch the argument into and Equal Rights issue. Then, in 1973, Roe was decided. Side note: Roe has NOT been overruled as of yet. The opinion is only a draft.
The abortion question has been a political hot button since the Roe decision. Nixon courted the Catholic vote by saying he would ban abortion. So did Reagan. The first Bush was actually very much for Family Planning…until the Evangelicals got hold of him and told him to change if he wanted to be president. Again, played the “Game of Politics.”

What I want you to Think About is the fact that the anti-abortion group has been VERY ACTIVE in getting laws passed to support their position. They play the “Game of Politics.” The Family Planning group has been relying on the Supreme Court and doing little to nothing to ensure their position.
Think About It people. I have said it before: it is NOT the job of a judge to create or protect your rights! It is their job to interpret the laws as written or as intended.
In order to create and protect rights, you, me, we, US must get our representatives to DO THEIR JOB! To create laws that protect rights and create rights if necessary.
That means YOU HAVE TO VOTE!
The other side is playing the “Game of Politics” to protect their position. The pending Supreme Court decision, I hope, acts as a wake up call for you!
