Ed-vise: Sit

A beautiful GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, it is a BEAUTIFUL morning starting out. Finally built me a bench to sit on out back that Newbie helped me with. She did the staining and caught pieces and held nails. What a TROOPER!

Technically Talking Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…TECHNICALLY!

No, you didn’t miss Monday Musings. I simply didn’t put one out. Reason being it was Memorial Day so I enjoyed the time of sleeping in and killing zombies (Call of Duty reference)! We all have our vices.

Did you ever try to just sit?

Literally. Sit. Doing relatively nothing. Just sit.

I’ll even go so far as to say, just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Or Mud Water that I have recently started to enjoy (mushroom concoction).

If you ever want a mentally challenging task, try sitting and enjoying a beverage. Want an even harder one? Try it without a beverage. HOLY CRAP!

The need to scroll through something or read something or whatever is CRUSHING! It is so hard to not just get up after like a minute and go do something. Mindlessly scroll through things or read whatever (like this blog which should be mandatory).

I tried it this morning. Sat on my newly made, hand crafted (to a degree), bench. I poured me a coffee after drinking my mushroom thing. Walked outside and sat on the bench. No phone; no Ipad. Just me and my coffee. After like 30 seconds, I wanted to get up and go do stuff I lined out for today. Instead I sat. Looked at scrap wood. After maybe two minutes, I wanted to get up and just get my phone. It was sitting on my workbench. All kinds of reasons why I needed it flooded the mind. Instead, I sat. Drank my coffee.

Technically Talking, that is called “being bored.” I call it just sitting.

With all the readily available technology we have at our fingertips, the average person, I bet, would find it a HUGE challenge to simply sit and do nothing. Just sit and be with your thoughts.

Not meditate. I find meditation to be an actual task and not really designed for relaxation. I know, that is counter to what the meditation world believes. But, oh well, I get to disagree.

Just to sit and be. No agenda; No plan; No…nothing. Just to sit and admire the workmanship of your newly built bench of scrap wood and admire the scraps you have laying around from all the other projects.

Dr. Andrew Huberman (Stanford) points out that the pineal gland needs the stimulation from the morning sunrise. And he’s a PhD in Neuroscience. Which makes him a Certified Smarty Pants.

So, take a shot at it. Go outside and sit. No reasoning other than to stimulate your pineal gland. If anyone asks what you are doing, tell them “I’m sitting.”

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if you set up your internet router in a barn you will have…STABLE WIFI!!!! HAHAHAHHAHA…stable!

Peace
