A great comeback GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, last night Monday Night Football saw an amazing come from behind wind by the Chiefs. Great game and tough break for The Raiders!
Tech Talk Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…technically.
Well, yesterday we brought Pops to his final resting place. Seems like a long time since he passed…and it was. So. Cal has a waiting list apparently.
Because we had him cremated, we did just the burial ceremony. Twenty one gun salute and Taps. No bag pipes.
915am kick off for the ceremony which we almost missed. At a National Cemetery, you MUST be on time. Mom was running behind. I am forgiving of it considering it is a ceremony for her Life Mate and she is a bit bummed. Either way, Brother in Law and Big Sis did a great job getting her to the place on time.
Flag Presentation part is a slow and emotional part of the ceremony. They unfurl the flag and re-fold it. Being very precise in every movement associated with the folds. Then, they take that flag and sharply turn toward the surviving spouse. The Presenter slowly marches toward the spouse in a journey that feels like forever. You wish you could run away from this person. Especially if you don’t want your loved one to be gone.
But you can’t. They walk up to you and stop. They take a knee directly in front of the spouse and extend their arms that hold the folded triangle of the flag. They say “On behalf of the United States, the United State’s Air Force, and a grateful nation, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved one’s honorable and faithful service.”
You take the flag and hold it. Mom held it like so many others I’ve seen hold it: as if it is the last time they will embrace their loved one.
The soldier rises up and gives what feels like a lonely salute. They turn and march away.
I will say, military does dead real good. Honestly, it was a great ceremony followed by an awesome Celebration of Life. I gave a eulogy that I wasn’t quite sure I was gonna make it through let alone start after that burial ceremony. Damn allergies!
I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if 666 is all evil then 25.8069758 is the…ROOT OF ALL EVIL! BWAHAHAHHAHA (evil laugh)!
Peace
