Ed-vise: Student Loans

A post parent teacher conference GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, Newbie had a parent teacher conference this past week. Teacher says her word knowledge is doing great and that Newbie is NOT an axe murderer! Whew…one less thing!

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s FRIDAY! OPEN MAT; PIZZA NIGHT!

Student loan forgiveness.

Biden administration has put in place a loan forgiveness program that was challenged in court. Some states didn’t like it because states receive additional money from these loans.

It goes like this.

Kids get pumped up on the idea of college being the ONLY solution to a better life. They are injected with this idea from their Freshman year of high school.

The kids do well (best and brightest and such) and apply to college. I’ll say 9 times out of 10 the acceptance letter comes with a financial aid packet. The kids and parents fill it out, send it in and end up getting a Student Loan.

The loan becomes multiple loans as the kid goes through school. The loan amounts are related to the cost of the school in the form of tuition and fees. Do you know who sets those prices (written with Dora the Explorer tone)? THE INDIVIDUAL STATES!

Those states set the prices based on deficits in their state budgets which would normally be filled through deficit spending, budget cuts, OR raising taxes on the individual people.

The state saddles the “Best and Brightest” with ANOTHER, very expensive tax. That is a student loan.

When the feds decided to allow loan forgiveness, that meant that states would no longer be able to rely on years worth of money coming into the state coffers. They would end up with a one time payment and that’s it. Politicians would then have to figure out how to make up the budget shortfall by doing something VERY unpopular.

So, whenever a politician says that education is VITAL ask them “why isn’t it affordable?” You don’t even have to ask about being “free.” Just ask why it isn’t affordable as an out of pocket expense versus taking out a mortgage size loan. You will probably be amazed at the answers to an easy question.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember a vampire’s favorite candy is…A SUCKER! Even though it gives them…BAT BREATH! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…BOOO!

Peace
