Ed-vise: Oil and Teachers

A cold morning GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, cold. Not Minnesota or Alaska cold but cold enough to say “Brrrrr!” Suck!

Technically Talking Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…Technically.

ELECTION DAY! Still time to vote so get out there and participate! It’s your legal right to bitch!

I don’t think teachers get paid nearly enough for what they do. For being the educators of Good Ol’ ‘Murica’s future, creating the “Best and Brightest” should receive and equivalent compensation.

In These Here U-Nited States, over half of the states produce oil. Thirty two, in fact. Of those, most produce less than 50 million barrels a year. Six of those states produce over 100 million barrels per year. Texas (God bless Texas) in 2020 produced over 1 billion (with a B) barrels and is forecasted to produce the equivalent this year as well.

Mississippi produced a measly 14 million barrels in 2020.

I know, I know. You ask me “What’s the point?”

Well, Texas is predicting to make BILLIONS in revenue from oil production. In fact, the revenue Texas will make from oil alone is enough to take care of most state budgets.

And yet Texas teachers rank 25th when it comes to being paid. In fact, of the top 10 states with highest paid teachers, 6 of them do not produce ANY oil. When it comes to the bottom 20 states for teacher pay, ALL but 2 produce oil. North Dakota and New Mexico that are in that bottom 20, happen to produce enough oil to make the top 3 states for oil production.

That is A LOT of money folks. And I do mean A LOT! Especially this year with the price of oil being as high as it has been.

So, Technically Speaking, when it comes to funding of schools and classrooms and lower tuition costs, these bottom 20 states for teacher pay should sky rocket to the top of the list…right?

Doubt it. Those bottom tier states have been producing oil for a long time and making a lot of money from it. They would rather have a heavily armed police force than a highly educated community. After all, a highly educated community would see through the bullshit and know the “why” behind a highly armed police force. It keeps them in power.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember the name of the Frenchman eaten by a lion was…CLAUDE! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA…oui oui!

Peace
