Ed-vise: Episode 625

A Veteran’s Day GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, Veteran’s Day! For what it’s worth I think TODAY should be moved to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November and everyone takes it off to vote!

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s FRIDAY! No on the OPEN MAT and PIZZA. Headed to the coast for stew.

My first Ed-vise was posted March 18, 2020. It started as an internal blog post with my team at work. After 107 posts there, I went “Professional” and have now posted 518 more, not counting this one. Monday through Friday…most of the time. And I ALWAYS have something to say!

Kristallnacht. Ever hear of it? No?

Well it is German for “Crystal Night.” See back in 1938, the Nazi Party went crazy-er and busted out all the windows of all the Jewish people’s businesses in Berlin. It was the outbreak of Anti Jewish attacks all across Germany. It was also called the “Night of the Broken Glass.” That was on November 9, 1938.

Fast forward to today and I have to ask WTF! While I shake my head.

Germany has Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants. The marketing campaign for the 84th remembrance: “Commemoration of Kristallnacht – Treat yourself to more soft chees and crispy chicken. Now at KFCHeese!”

I never took a marketing class in college or any other time. However, I have a pretty good idea about the First Rule: Never use a remembrance day to promote purchasing your product.

None the less, it goes along with recent controversies regarding to the bullshit that pro-athletes, and people in general, get away with posting. Especially on Twitter. The very platform that results in child suicides because Twitter will not regulate.

I am all about Free Speech. It is supposed to create this wonderful “Marketplace of Ideas.” It also promotes the free expression of Cat Videos.

On the opposite end, I am ALSO for FREE CONSEQUENCES. Meaning if you post it YOU should take ownership of it and deal with the consequences.

Some posters do reap what they sew. I highly doubt Kyrie Erving is reaping it. A little 5 game suspension was the best the NBA could come up with. Still some of the people that post do reap the consequences as there are people out there that track them down.

At the end of the day, read the room. Don’t use a memorial type day such as Kristallnacht to promote your product. It makes EVERYONE’s life easier.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember if you pass out at the baggage carousel while traveling, you will…SLOWLY COME AROUND! HAHAHAHAHHAHA…get it!

Peace
