Ed-vise: The Federation

A “May the 4th” be with you GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, Star Wars Day today. Which brings me to the Ed-vise blog today.

Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Because it’s THURSDAY! Time to THINK!

Everyone just LOVES Luke Skywalker and the ongoing rebellion against the Federation.

The writers (Lucas and Spielberg) portray the Empire as evil and a thing to be hated. Side note: during my deployments overseas, we learned that the people of the countries we were running around in viewed Good Ol’ ‘Murica as the Evil Empire. So, they LOVED Star Wars.

I want you all to Think About This for a minute.

The Federation is made up of thousands of different planets. It is an entity designed to bring all the planets together in a central location to discuss issues of trade and harmony throughout the Star Wars Universe.

In my view, it creates consistency and reliability within the universe. Which is EXACTLY what all trading entities want. A standard set of rules that apply to everyone and are enforced consistently.

Picture it like this. Here, on Earth, imagine trading with one country with one set of rules. Then, you want to trade with another country that has a completely different set of rules. Now, you have to jump through all kinds of hoops if you want or need the resource of country number 2. Then, imagine being treated differently because of whatever country you are from doesn’t match the country you are working with.

All kinds of rules. All kinds of regulations. Heaven forbid some war breaks out between a couple of trading partners. Then even more chaos comes about.

As a consumer, all of these regulations lead to tariffs. Those tariffs lead to higher costs in goods and services. Meaning you pay more for what you get. Without consistent regulations and enforcement, the cost of baby formula could increase or decrease on a daily basis.

The Federation provides that consistency. They provide a standardized set of trade rules throughout the galaxy for everyone to live by. This creates predictable pricing for everyone.

It has an enforcement mechanism to support the rules and regulations. Thus, a small tax needs taken to support the enforcement.

The Rebellion seeks to create chaos among the trading partners. It seeks to make it so everyone can do whatever they want, however they want. It wants to allow lower standards of living. It promotes criminal activity. All under the disguise of “Freedom.”

Well, I say that “Freedom,” under The Rebellion, might happen on Planet A. However, you probably won’t have it on Planet B. Or, it will be different on Planet C.

Under the leadership of The Federation, that “Freedom” will be consistent across ALL planets. ALL, I say. Planets that don’t offer that same “Freedom” will be blown up and removed from the galaxy.

See how it works?

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Be the person a stranger will perform CPR on. Check in on each other and remember if you go to a Plastic Surgery Support Group, you will always see…NEW FACES! BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHA…Good One!

Peace
