Technically Talking Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…Technically!
The Fermi Paradox.
Ever hear of it? Me neither until yesterday.
It goes kinda like this. Scientists that look at planets and stars and the galaxy and the universe believe there are extraterrestrial life forms out there. Other planets that humans can exist on. Furthermore, they also believe that, through time, there must exist other intelligent life forms. Other, similar human types.
Fair enough.
Yet, here on Earth, outside of trailer parks in the South East, nobody has encountered any such beings. We don’t have any substantiated proof of aliens having come to earth. Or Mars for that matter.
The Fermi Paradox says “if life is so easy, someone from someone from somewhere must have come calling at some point.”
It creates a great question. Why haven’t we (or have we) been visited by alien civilizations?
I pose a possible answer.
The question imposes our own bias of exploration upon all other similar civilizations. Meaning we assume all the other civilizations in the universe WANT to go exploring the universe. That they WANT to find other similar civilizations.
Perhaps these other civilizations, instead, simply wanted to master their own worlds. I mean we haven’t even figured out how to live for long periods of time in the Antarctic Regions. Can’t live on the bottom of the sea yet. Haven’t figured out the energy thing without polluting the very world we live in. Yet we want to go off an colonize other worlds?
I say these other, alien beings, chose to solve the many wonderful problems of their own world and probably continue to do so. They are happy with where they are at. The restless bug of exploration has not bitten them and they simply exist. Kinda peaceful don’t ya think?
