Ed-vise Episode 38

Man a foggy GOOD MORNING!!! To you all. Time for a bit of Ed-vise

Today’s bit o trivia: Vitamin D. Yup. A vitamin… for trivia. This bad boy is something that’s super important to our wellbeing and we fail to get enough of it. Actually, it is a hormone made in the kidneys. However, more likely than not, you need more. Take vitamin D daily if you want better sleep. Take more if you want to heal better (not feel; heal). Take it to fight diseases better than vitamin C. And, oh by the way, in a recent study, people infected with COVID were found to have low vitamin D. Winter is coming. Take your vitamin D.

Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today

I watched Amazing Race and Big Brother last night. In addition, as you know, I have been reading Deep Work.

Now, in both TV shows, both had incidents where people DID NOT READ THE CLUE! This cost them dearly. Side note: I thought one of the Big Brother contestants showed his true colors when he came in third and threw his little pity party. But I digress.

Back to the clue thing. Amazing Race people ended up having to back track because they forgot their supplies. More than one team did this. Which brings up my Think About It.

See, we have way too many distractions going on and way too little reason to actually dive into deep reading. We rely on summaries and 200 characters to give us, what we believe, the entire story. We click on click bait of a shallow headline and think we have the entire situation understood. This has resulted in shallow debates (as seen the past few elections) centered around sound bites and the inability to read AND comprehend the instructions found on a clue card. I warn you THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A SERIOUS PROBLEM! I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember to get out and VOTE!!! I don’t care for who. Just VOTE!!!
