Ed-vise Episode 41

A “WHAT A DAY TO BE ALIVE” Good Afternoon to you all!!!

Today’s bit o trivia: Thomas Edmund Dewey. The man who was named President of the United States… but it never happened. See when FDR died in office in 1945 Harry S. Truman became the president. He and Dewey went after it for the election of 48. Well, Truman was not popular and Dewey was firmly believed by all republicans that Dewey would win hands down. He ran as close to a non-partisan campaign with great political slogans like “the your future is still ahead of you.” Duh. Well, on election night, the Chicago Tribune was so optimistic that they printed 150,000 copies of the paper famously declaring “Dewey Defeats Truman.” Ooops. Talk about a typo

Anyway…

What Would You do Wednesday Ed-vise today

Election Day was yesterday! And today is the fall-out! The day we wake up next to ourselves and ask “what have I done.” Maybe.

I was pondering the scenarios of loss. With so much animosity between people over politics these days I have to ask if your party wins, can you forgive those who thought otherwise?

For example, say Biden wins. Can the Biden supporters forgive those who supported Trump? Or vise versa. What will you do when your party wins? Will you be humble or will you shove the victory in the face of opponents? But ask this of yourself: is it more important to be victorious or, to quote scripture “love your neighbor as you would yourself.”

Since the 2016 election there has been A LOT of hateful rhetoric from both sides. Scorched earth type thinking and broken relations along with broken hearts (I lay this at the feet of Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh). Is your allegiance toward a political party more important than loving your friends and family? I assure you that the political parties DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY!!! I’m just sayin

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember over $14 billion was spent on this campaign and there are still families being evicted. Send that to your favorite political party.

Peace
