Ed-vise Episode 95

A snowy GOOD MORNING!!! to you all!!! No run this morning. A bit of yoga which was interrupted with spots of laughter as I thought about issues with my 3 year old from last night… too funny…and gross!!

Today’s bit o trivia: Lady Jane Grey. OK, you have to admit, those Brits have some crazy history. And Lady Jane is no different. A reluctant queen for a mere 13 days…sorry…9 days! Her story is what happens when you mix royalty, family, money, and religion all into one pot. See, her cousin Mary, also wanted to be queen. Mary had more friends that Jane. Not that Jane wasn’t a nice person…Mary was just better at it. Jane a Protestant; Mary a Catholic. English Parliament approved of Jane being queen. Then, said “nope” and put in Mary. Jane gets arrested; tried (for mean Tweets) by a group of Mary’s peers (not Janes) and sentenced to be burned at the stake. Beheading was the better choice and, at the ripe old age of 17, the executioner separated her head from her body on this day in 1554… Millennials.

Anyway…

Free For All Friday Ed-vise today

Typing this up as I think about a drive to go get cinnamon rolls.

Yesterday I advocated for the unionizing of Amazon and Tesla workforces. Why? For one thing a better chance at going to work and coming home for the workers!!! An organized workforce advocates for such things! It worked to improve conditions in the mines, the ports, the police, fire departments, elevator mechanics. Worked for a LOT of workers!

Unions today represent around 6% of the workforce across the nation. Why? Lots of reasons. Many internal; many external. Too much politics for one. Add to that where there is lots of money, there is always corruption. From the start, owners hated unions. Owners paid politicians to work against the union interests. It has been that way for some time.

Yet unions, in principle, want for their members, what certain political parties (Republicans) say they want for their voters: a better quality of life, higher paying jobs etc.

So, maybe the unions should stop with the political contributions entirely and work for the members, and maybe, the parties should advocate more for organized labor and put action behind their words of wanting what’s best for ‘Merica! I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember true love is being able to muscle through your significant others ICE COLD HANDS!

Peace
