A beautiful 3/4 moon GOOD MORNING!!! to you all!!! My boy turned 18 this past weekend. Man, you blink in life and suddenly, everyone around you is growing up!
Today’s bit o trivia: Tituba. In colonial ‘Merica there was a thing called The Salem Witchtrials. Those trials brought men and women before a judge and had witnesses that were usually young girls. These girls would throw fits and such making themselves look possessed which would result in the accused being found guilty of witchcraft. Well, Tituba was the first. She was a slave out of Barbados whose owner, Samuel Parris, beat a confession out of her accusing several other women of witchcraft. She was put in jail and eventually released due to a huge social media push on twitter. Not really…on the twitter thing.
Anyway…
Monday Morning Musings Ed-vise today
During my road work this morning I was meditating on minimum wage (between breaths). Dems really want a national minimum wage; Republicans think it blasphemous to believe anyone other than business owners should be able to provide for their families.
See, a small business owner hires their employees. These owners usually know the value these employees provide. And pay accordingly. Small biz does what they can to keep good employees AND to reward themselves for risk taken. As they should. As the business becomes more prosperous, good owners will continue to reward their employees with pay or benefits. Some won’t. Actually, many won’t.
There are many who believe wages are driven by supply and demand (market forces). This is true to a point. Supply and demand do tip the scale. However, companies tip the scale back by cheating. They tip the scale back not by allowing market forces to move the needle but by using their purchasing power to “purchase” politicians to make rules and regulations to PREVENT market forces from working.
It is a moral failure when a CEO makes millions while their employees make minimum wages. I’m just saying
That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember Winnie the Pooh and Alexander the Great have the SAME MIDDLE NAME!!! Think about it!
Peace
