Ed-vise Episode 124

Another cold GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Had a couple beers with friends last night…in person! I tell you what: People need People!

Today’s bit o trivia: Phthalates. Huh? Yup, phthalates. Bet you never heard of that word because I never had…until yesterday. These are chemicals that were created back in the 1840s and 1850s. To help in the world of plastic (the bane of human existence). See, this is a chemical that they add to plastic to make it more flexible. So when they invented pacifiers for babies they were like “HEY! How can we make this more soft and flexible for babies?” A mad scientist said “put some phthalates” on it. “That sounds toxic” came a voice of protest that was quickly silenced. So they put phthalates on it and started interrupting the endocrine system of babies and causing all kinds of biological problems. To help this along, in the 1930s they started putting it in toys for tots. Well, it wasn’t until 2008 when these were banned. Again, we are the cause of our own demise

What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Man I love this day!

Yesterday I had a great visit with a client. They were asking me about ride sharing safety. Tips and tactics along with what to do in this COVID world. Which gave me an opportunity to preach my gospel about pre-planning and table topping situations.

If you paid attention to the news/ click-bait, there was yet another incident where an Uber driver was attacked by his riders there in San Francisco. Why? Because of the mask thing. People, this pandemic is going too long because people want to keep playing fuck fuck games with these masks! But I digress.

My safety tip for the ride share folks is to table-top the negative exchange. How do you ask someone to put on their mask in a manner that will not insult or invite confrontation? Do you know when you will finally stop the car and ask them to leave? When it comes to that situation (asking someone to get out), try to find a police car or station. Pull into the station or up to the police car. Stop your car and get out. Get the officers attention and then start requesting the person get out. By doing that you have the police right there as back up witnesses and available to get physical if they need to. After all, that is what they get paid for. I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember there is a new heavy metal rock band called Nuns and Moses. Get it? Nuns and Moses?
