Today’s bit o trivia: Rocco Francis Marchegiano. Know him? Died back in 1963 at the age of 45. And, if you follow the fight world, you would know that he is the ONLY undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. Retired at 49 – 0 with 43 knockouts. And yes, “he beat Joe Louis’s ass.” Even if Joe Louis was 76 years old when he fought the man. “Every time someone talks about Joe Louis someone has to bring up Rocky Marciano!”

Free for All Friday Ed-vise today. Yup…it’s a FRIDAY! AND OPEN MAT!!! Ohhhh Yeaaaahhhh
Like I said earlier in this one, I got to have dinner with my eldest. I did it over Ju Jitsu and that REALLY is a big deal cause I do love getting the shit beat out of me on the mat. But, she caught me at just the right time and I had been thinking about her for a bit so it did my heart good to sit and listen to her.
She works as a patient transporter in a hospital. She let me know that she moved a person who was over 100 years old. I think we mapped it out to her being born in 1909. That puts this person at 112 years old. Now, think about that for a moment.
At that age, can you imagine the stories they have to tell!?!?! I mean think about it. This person would have been born pre-WW1. That means pre-Spanish Flu. She will be in her second global pandemic. Two world wars…TWO! Woman’s Suffrage; Civil Rights; moon landing; MARS LANDING (OHHH MAN); TWENTY US Presidents (I’ve lived through 10 so far). Let that set in on you. That person is a living history of our world.
If you have someone like that in your life, I would encourage you to sit down with them with a smart phone to record, and ask “what was it like when you were growing up?” Capture it because once it’s gone; it’s gone. Trust me on that. I’m just saying
