For whatever reason, just about every so called “conservative” has an absolute FEAR of the history, rather the story, that is the United States. A literal and dangerous fear that has resulted in banning of the conversation and banning the story.
What do you think life would be like if you did not have a history? ‘Merica, believe it or not, is working on it’s 300th year of being around and for as much as we like to boast about being the “Leader of the Free World,” we sure are afraid of how we got here!
So, being a conservative-ish type person, I am going t use this platform on Friday to bring up the past and tuck us into the weekend with some good ol’ tales of ‘Merica! I’ll come up with a better title…I hope.
I’ll start with Rep. John E. Rankin. Fortunately, he’s dead now but when he was alive and kickin’ in the House of Representatives as a Democrat, well, he was a blatant and unapologetic bigot.
For all my Japanese readers…he wanted them interred and not compensated;
For my Jewish readers…he hated you;
For my black readers…Yup…hated you too.
And it did not matter to him if you were a veteran fighting for this country. In his mind, your skin color or ethnicity or religion came first, then country.
But, you white folks from Mississippi…HE LOVED YOU!!! And back in his 16 term reign starting in 1920, they loved him back.
So, when you think about laws that he wrote up and managed to sneak into being, keep in mind his purpose was NOT to the greatness of ‘Merica. It was greatness to his voters: White Males from MISSiSSIPPI.
I’m just saying
